A.M. It was definitely an interesting experience growing up in a smaller town in PA. I struggled as a kid with self-expression and finding ways to be myself. It’s a similar story for many queer children growing up in a small town, learning how to mould ourselves into an archetype suitable for suburban America. Luckily, I’ve always had dance and music in my life to provide a creative outlet, and lifelong friends that have supported me since day one.
A.G.E. It seems like you've always been deeply involved in the arts, with a background in dance, piano, and gymnastics. Were these pursuits a personal choice, and what sparked your interest in these disciplines?
A.M. I’ve always been artistically inclined, playing a few different instruments as a kid and dancing at a local ballet studio since I was 6 years old. Like many others, I’ve found a refuge in the arts, as it’s a space to explore your own ideas and push yourself without the judgement of others. I originally started dance and music because my sisters were involved, but I continued these passions on my own accord well beyond high school and college.
A.M. I’ve always been a computer nerd and loved learning about technology in school. I’m fascinated by the intersection of art and technology and would love to explore that later in my career.
A.G.E. Beyond your technical work, you've managed to maintain your creative pursuits, such as cooking, dance, and painting. Could you tell us more about how you integrate these activities into your daily life?
A.M. It’s about finding what makes you happy and doing that every day! Once I’m done working for the day I’m always busying myself with something creative. Whether it is practising on a DDJ, painting with watercolour, or learning a TikTok dance, it’s all an exploration of my creative self.
A.G.E. I'm also curious about your fitness routine and skincare routine, as your physical appearance is quite remarkable. What strategies do you employ to stay fit and maintain flawless skin?
A.M. Firstly, thank you for such a compliment. I’ve always been relatively fit, doing gymnastics and dance your whole life will do that to you. And skincare-wise, well, I was on Accutane in my early 20’s and it saved my skin. Anyone struggling with acne should seriously consider it. Beyond that, drink your water and get good sleep!
A.M. Tyler and I met on Instagram, first exchanging complimentary messages and inquiring about how we could get together to make something special. We shot at my boyfriend’s apartment in Brooklyn, and the photos speak for themselves. He has wonderful energy, is super comforting and encouraging, and is incredibly talented!
A.G.E. What does the term "yummy" mean to you?
A.M. Something that tastes as good as it looks.
A.G.E. Your comfort with nudity and body expression in your photos suggests a strong connection with your body. Has this always been the case, or did you develop this confidence over time?
A.M. It definitely took a while for me to love my body and feel comfortable with nudity. But after long enough, you just have to concede and love the body you have. Why spend your life hating your body when you can change the narrative and forgo idealistic body standards?
A.M. Eyes are my favourite feature of someone, they can convey such meaning with one look. In dance, your facial expression is all part of the story.
A.G.E. This soft sensuality often translates into intimacy. How would you describe yourself in intimate moments with a partner—are you more romantic or passionate?
A.M. I’m a Scorpio so it’s all passion.
A.G.E. I understand you're relocating to New York this summer. What are your aspirations for this new chapter in your life, and how do you envision New York contributing to your goals and dreams?
A.M. I’m very excited to be relocating to NYC this summer, with so many opportunities for dance and the arts. I’m eager to take some fun dance classes, dive deeper into music, and take in the energy of the creatives around me. Hopefully, I’ll take some great photos and continue to meet wonderful people who encourage me to accomplish my goals.
